AT RADIO CANARIA

On March 17, 2016 an interview with Riccardo Riccardi by Rubén Mayor was aired on Radio Canaria. The subject was Riccardi’s music and his thoughts on contemporary music: “The music of the second half of the twentieth century has been very important from an historical perspective. True, but perhaps we need to keep going, which means to keep trying new things. However, unfortunately, when the public sees ‘contemporary,’ or ‘contemporary music’ they become fearful, and they may be right. I call it ‘ex-contemporaneous music,’ in the sense that the term, contemporary, has lost its meaning: it no longer means something written today, but something written 50 years ago. In other words, a style that began after World War II.”
Riccardo Riccardi, composer.
