Galleria dell’immagine Palazzo Gambalunga, Rimini November 23 – December 14, 2002
The exhibit took its name from a line by the Portuguese poet, Fernando Pessoa, Each of us is more than one, chosen to put an accent on the multiple inspirations that coexist in the productions of the author. The paintings are not isolated, but are in a series following an almost musical rhythm, swinging between abstract and figurative. Each of the paintings repeats a fixed module 40 x 50 cm or 51 x 51 cm, and shown together they look almost like a succession of movie frames. The exhibition rooms told a succession of stories, reflecting the different moods and different aspects of the author’s feelings. From the dramatic self-portraits made with industrial enamel and oil on various types of paper, passing through a group of enigmatic Janus-faced faces rendered in a taut and rapid brush stroke, one came finally to a collection of minimalist figures on the horizon, painted on canvas prepared with glue and plaster.
