CASANOVA’S STORY

Painting exhibition

Accent Paris Centre
89, rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, Paris
Inauguration: May 2, 2001

The figure of Casanova has inspired Riccardo Riccardi both as a musician and as a painter. In these paintings the adventurer is a projection of the man Riccardi himself, and of the thirst for freedom that every human being feels. Casanova’s Story consists of a series of unusual self portraits, some against a background of the artist’s own dreams, and others depicted simply as body fragments. The viewer will see hands, feet, a whole face or a part of a face, with a special emphasis on the eyes. Eyes are the mirror of the soul. These eyes could be seeing the image of a women, or dreaming a landscape, or even seeing a vision of eternal youth.
